On 30 June, TIER2 will host its very first reproducibility hackathon (ReproHack), as a satellite event to the FENS Forum 2024 at the University of Vienna, Austria.
The main goal of the ReproHack* is to connect neuroscientists to gain insights into reproducibility and exchange knowledge to advance scientific rigour and transparency. Therefore, during the one-day event, participants will have the opportunity to work together in an attempt to reproduce research findings that have been published previously.
The ReproHack agenda also features two lightning talks by researchers and experts in the field of reproducible research and Open Science. Dr Anna Krystalli, research software engineering consultant, as well as founder and core team member of ReproHack, will provide a brief introduction to ReproHacks. In addition, Emma Wilson, PhD student in Clinical Brain Sciences (CAMARADES, University of Edinburgh) and science communicator, will talk about reproducibility in neuroscience.
The event will be hosted by researchers from the Charité | BIH QUEST Center for Responsible Research, at the University of Vienna. Find out more about the ReproHack event and sign up here.
*It is important to note that this event format is not intended to criticise or discredit any research efforts. Instead, reproduction attempts are a beneficial scientific activity with useful outcomes for the original authors and valuable learning experiences for both the participants and the wider research community.
