This June, a new preprint titled "Open Science interventions to improve reproducibility and replicability of research: a scoping review" was released. The review is part of TIER2 and its sister project OSIRIS, both of which aim to support open science and improve research practices.
The review systematically assesses the literature to identify and evaluate interventions, such as data sharing, methods transparency, and preregistration, and their impact on improving research practices. The findings reveal that although various interventions have been proposed, empirical evidence directly testing their effectiveness remains limited. Only 15 out of 104 studies reviewed directly measure the impact of interventions on reproducibility or replicability, highlighting a critical gap in the research.
This work, conducted by a team of researchers, was pre-registered on the Open Science Framework. It provides valuable insights and lays the groundwork for future research into evidence-based practices for improving scientific reliability.
