New Reproducibility Network launched in Serbia
A new Reproducibility Network has been launched in Serbia with support from TIER2. The official event took place in a hybrid form on 25 September 2025 at the Science Technology Park Belgrade (Naučno-tehnološki park Beograd).

“We believe this launch marks only the beginning. Together, we will continue building a stronger, more open, and more reproducible research culture in Serbia.”
– Matija Zlatar, University of Belgrade - Institute of Chemistry, Technology and Metallurgy
Nearly 80 participants joined the event in person or online, representing 40 different institutions from a wide spectrum of Serbia's research and innovation ecosystem. The audience was very diverse, bringing together researchers, librarians, students, administrative staff, project managers and management of research organisations. This variety created a dynamic and engaging atmosphere that underscored the broad relevance of reproducibility and open science across Serbia's research and innovation ecosystem.
The program featured three international plenary speakers:
- Marcus Munafò (UK Reproducibility Network): "Fostering National and International Collaboration: The Global Federation of Reproducibility Networks"
- Alexandra Bannach-Brown (BIH QUEST, Charité Berlin): "Collaborating for Reproducibility: The TIER2 Project"
- Maren Podewitz (TU Wien): "Reliable, reproducible, and reusable data for quantum chemistry (in the age of AI)"
Alongside them, colleagues from Serbia presented lectures reflecting the breadth of reproducibility challenges across disciplines:
- Obrad Vučkovac (University of Belgrade - Vinča Institute of Nuclear Sciences) – From Plan to Reproducibility: The Practical Path to FAIR Research
- Nadica Miljković (University of Belgrade - School of Electrical Engineering) – Computational Reproducibility: The Case of Medical Software and Machine Learning Application
- Ana Bošković (University of Belgrade - Faculty of Chemistry) – Encouraging Open Access: Visual Incentives for Researchers Who Share Their Scientific Results
- Vesna Nešković (BEAMING Project, Nosi Sad) – Place of Reproducibility of Research in the Open Science EU Policy: Lessons Learned from BEAMING Project
- Matija Zlatar (University of Belgrade - Institute of Chemistry, Technology and Metallurgy) – Launching the Serbian Reproducibility Network – Advancing Transparent and Reliable Research in Serbia
After the formal program of plenary and invited talks, the launch concluded with an unconference session, informal discussions, and networking, giving participants the opportunity to exchange ideas, explore collaborations, and shape the future direction of the Serbian RN together.
