TIER2 partners – Friederike Kohrs and Alexandra Bannach-Brown – have developed a guide designed to help organisers foster Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (DEIA) in the events they organise. This resource is part of the project’s ongoing efforts to foster inclusive and accessible scientific collaboration, ensuring that every participant, regardless of background or ability, feels valued and supported.
The guide offers practical tips and a curated list of resources aimed at making virtual events more welcoming for all. While its primary focus is on virtual environments, many of the key takeaways are equally applicable to in-person events, making it a versatile tool for any organiser.
Key highlights include:
Diversity: Ensuring diverse representation among speakers and participants.
Equity: Addressing barriers faced by marginalised groups and fostering equitable participation.
Inclusion: Creating safe spaces where everyone’s ideas are valued and their needs are met.
Accessibility: Prioritising accessibility through closed captions, inclusive language, and accessible materials.
